The Disappearance of Melanie Quadros
27 year old Melanie Quadros was last seen in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 18, 2010. She was last seen on Bridge Street, walking with her small Pomeranian dog.
Background
Melanie Quadros was born on February 19, 1983. She grew up on Congress Street in Dracut, and loved watching the horses at Campbell Farm.
Quadors dropped out of school after eighth grade and struggled with substance abuse issues as an adult. She had been in and out of rehab and had some legal issues, but always stayed in close contact with her family.
Disappearance
On January 18, 2010, Melanie Quadros was last seen walking her brown Pomeranian dog named Rusty near the area of Appleton Street in Lowell, Massachusetts. She was reportedly on her way to meet up with someone.
Neither Melanie nor her dog have ever been seen again.
Melanie’s mother reported her missing to the Lowell Police Department on January 25, 2010.
Investigation
Melanie spoke to her mother on the phone around 5:30 pm on the day of her disappearance, and her mother says nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Melanie had asked if she could borrow a heating pad for her back.
On February 21, 2010, someone who sounded like Melanie called into radio station WJMN 94.5 in Boston to make a song dedication to their boyfriend. The station was unable to provide a record of where the call came from.
Melanie did have a boyfriend at the time, but he was in jail prior to her disappearance. He states he doesn’t know where she might have gone.
Authorities say Melanie was known to spend time in the areas of Jackson, Appleton, Bridge and Middlesex streets in Lowell.
Melanie had a warrant out for her arrest when she went missing, which led authorities to believe she may have left voluntarily, though her mother says she would always stay in touch with family.
“It’s now a decade since my daughter has gone missing with still no results. I wish there was something that would have already come up in all this time, but nothing has changed,” Melanie’s mother Maria Tetiva said. “When they say that it gets better as time goes on that’s not true. It hurts me today the same as it did the first day when she went missing.”
Appearance
White female born on February 19, 1983. Melanie has brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5’1 tall, and weighs 100 pounds. Her ears and lower lip are pierced, and she has a tattoo of a heart with the name David in it on her upper left arm.
She had long curly hair that was down to the middle of her back, and her right arm is slightly impaired. She is of Portuguese descent.
Clothing & Accessories:
Melanie was last seen wearing a dark puffy jacket, blue jeans, and sneakers. She also wears a gold chain and some rings.
